There is an umbrella of dermal fillers called, “JUVEDERM”. Juvederm is manufactured by Allergan, the manufacturer’s of Botox Cosmetic. Allergan has a stellar reputation for developing safe medical products. Dermal Fillers or Wrinkle Fillers are products that are used to add volume in areas of deficit. In the not so distant past, there were only a few options to fill facial wrinkles and folds on the face. Allergan took their Juvederm filler and developed several individual products from this science. These new products were designed to be used in very specific areas of the face where volume has been depleted. Voluma is the Juvederm product with the largest molecular compound, therefore it is used in larger areas of the face to replace volume.
As we age, several events occur around the eyes, cheeks, and mid-face that contribute to a “tired” and aged look. Most notably, we lose fat in our face. This leads to the loss of our normal cheek highlight, as well as the appearance of dark circles under our eyes and hollowness in our cheeks. Volume restoration is often the treatment of choice. Typically, fat transfer to the site, or even cheek implants, provide the best improvement; however, fillers can be used in select cases. Voluma is designed for this area.
A “Liquid Facelift” is a term that is used when dermal fillers are used in multiple areas of the face thus resulting in a fresher, more youthful appearance. Voluma is the cornerstone of most liquid facelifts because it covers areas of large volume loss. In addition, Vollure and Volbella in conjunction with Botox Cosmetic, are used in a systematic way to help patients achieve their goals without surgery.
