I can no longer look angry anymore and it’s my co-workers fault!

I recently started getting my Botox cosmetics and it was not on my own accord. My colleagues were getting quarterly injections and I was going back and forth on if this was something that I even wanted to do. I am 38 but in my mind I am not even pushing 25! I always thought Botox cosmetics were for the Hollywood type, the rich and famous, glamour girls. All of which I am not.

How could I go all day without moving my face? How could I talk to my girlfriends and not be able to raise my eyebrows when they tell me “You won’t believe what my child just did? “

But then a co-worker uttered a few words and my mind set changed…
“Wouldn’t you rather looked refreshed…not angry?!”
At that moment I stopped. Did my co-worker just diagnose me with RBF? How could that be? I am the happy one! I never thought that I would have Resting B***H Face!!. RBF can ruin first impressions and has been known to start fights. This was not me; this is Kanye West, Rihanna, Jeremy Renner and Victoria Beckham. Obviously, face was not reflecting how I felt on the inside. What is the prognosis? Can I be cured? How has 38 years gone by and I never saw the symptoms? All these ridiculous thoughts flew through my head.

I sat down with Nancy Cotterman, our nurse injector and she assured me that I was not alone and that she had something that could help me. Botox! I had deep lines between my eyes that made me look like I was constantly annoyed and angry. She stated that with Botox she would be able to soften those lines and also place Botox on the inner and outer eyebrow area to allow a mild chemical lift to brighten my eyes. I was ready to sign on the dotted line. If my co-worker noticed my RBF; I was assured that everyone noticed it.

Nancy prepped my skin by wiping the area to be injected with an alcohol swab and handed me a stress ball to take my mind off the procedure. She explained to me what I would feel and what area she would be working on. Just like she said I felt a small pinprick in between my eyes and slight pressure. And before I knew it, the process was all over and I did not even squeeze the stress ball. It would take about 10 days before those areas on my face would be “relaxed” and when that day happened it was amazing. My eyes looked brighter and my “11” lines were smooth. I haven’t looked back from that decision and I get my Botox injections faithfully every 3-4 months to maximize the benefits. Nancy told me if I stay up with my injections the results last longer and eventually, it should last for 6 months.

I feel that I look refreshed, that I have had my 8 hours of sleep, and that I won’t be ruining any friendships with my RBF. My fear of not being able to move my face was nonsense. I can still raise my eyebrows when my friends tell me that they don’t need Botox!
