How Long Does Microblading Eyebrows Last?

Achieving full, healthy-looking eyebrows will transform your face and give you a fresh, attractive look. At Columbus Facial Plastics at The Sullivan Centre in Columbus, Ohio, we can use microblading to enhance the appearance of your eyebrows. Microblading costs are very low, and the improvements in your eyebrows will last for a long time.

How Long Does Microblading Eyebrows Last?

Microblading is a sophisticated cosmetic technique that uses small, hair-like tattoos to make your eyebrows look fuller and more sculpted. Since different types of skin respond to tattoo pigment in unique ways, your tattooed brows may last for a longer or shorter period of time than other people. Further, your skincare routine and lifestyle habits can affect the duration of your tattoo.

Under some circumstances, you might need to get a touch-up tattoo session after about six months. If you follow our skincare and lifestyle tips, you might receive a touch-up session after about two years.

Why Are My Eyebrows Thin and Patchy?

Your beauty habits, health, and age can all affect the condition of your eyebrows.

Beauty Habits

Overplucking your eyebrows for a long time can damage the hair follicles in this area of your body. Over time, some of the hairs that you have repeatedly plucked will stop growing, and your eyebrows will begin to look thin and patchy. In addition, using harsh makeup products on your skin can harm the individual hairs in your eyebrows.

Age

As you get older, your hormones will change. Declining estrogen and testosterone levels can cause your eyebrow hairs to thin. The hairs on your head may also begin to thin during this time.

Stress

Going through a period of intense emotional stress can temporarily change the growth cycle of your hair and cause your eyebrows to thin. This condition often improves when this crisis passes and you begin to feel better.

Health

Certain illnesses and nutritional deficiencies can disrupt the growth cycle of your hair. For instance, alopecia areata is a type of autoimmune disease that can cause your eyebrow hairs to stop growing. If you don’t eat enough zinc, biotin, iron, or other nutrients, your eyebrows can also become thin and patchy.

How Does Microblading Transform My Eyebrows?

During your microblading session, we will carefully apply tattoo ink into the skin in and around your eyebrows. If one of your eyebrows is thicker or fuller than the other brow, we can use ink to correct this asymmetry. We will use artistic strokes and specialized shading techniques to shape and fill in your brows in an attractive, subtle manner. The tattoos that we place into your skin will resemble the natural hairs in your brows.

We will place the tattoo ink into the upper tissues of your skin. This semi-permanent tattoo will gradually fade away. When your tattoo becomes lighter, you can return to our office to receive follow-up treatments.

How Should I Prepare for My Initial Microblading Session?

You’ll need to take good care of your skin during the days before your initial microblading session. To avoid irritating your brows, you should not use skincare products that contain Retin A or Renova during this time. You will also need to stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and other blood-thinning medications.

In addition to avoiding these medications, you should not drink alcoholic beverages for at least twenty-four hours before your appointment. Abstaining from alcohol will help your body adjust to your semi-permanent tattoo. Avoiding wine, beer, and other alcoholic drinks will also help your skin retain the ink in your new tattoo.

Will the Microblading Process Be Uncomfortable?

We will use sophisticated techniques to make the microblading process a pleasant, comfortable experience for you. For instance, we may use specialized substances to numb your skin before we begin filling in your brows.

We will also advise you to bring headphones so that you can listen to a relaxing playlist or podcast while we tattoo your skin. Using headphones will cover the sound that our device makes during the tattoo process and help you feel at ease as we gently place pigmentation into your skin.

How Long Will the Microblading Process Take to Complete?

This is a quick process, and your initial consultation, first microblading session, and touch-up appointment will take about four hours and thirty minutes to complete.

Your First Meeting

Our first meeting will last for about thirty minutes. During this appointment, we will look at your brows and talk about the style and effect that you would like to achieve with microblading. To help us create an attractive design, you should bring along photographs of people with eyebrow styles that you like. For example, you could show us a photograph of a celebrity with shapely, attractive brows.

Creating Your Semi-Permanent Tattoo

Your initial microblading session will last for about two and a half hours. We will work with you to design an attractive, customized shape, color, and style for your brows. This process will take about forty-five minutes to complete.

During the next stage of your treatment, we will carefully deposit the tattoo ink into your skin. We will use precisely applied strokes to create hair-like designs in your brows. The tattooing process will usually last for about one hour and forty-five minutes.

Adjusting Your Tattoo

After about four to six weeks, you’ll return to our office for a touch-up session. This appointment will last for about one and a half hours.

Will I Have to Stay Home While I’m Recovering From My Microblading Treatment?

There’s no need for you to stay home from your job or other activities after you receive your microblading treatment. However, to ensure that your skin heals quickly and that your ink settles into your tissues, you will need to make some minor adjustments to your usual routine over the next several days.

Don’t Go Swimming

Since water can disrupt the ink in your semi-permanent tattoo and cause your new eyebrows to fade more quickly, you should try not to get the skin around your eyebrows wet for the next seven days. To achieve this goal, you should not go swimming during this time.

Avoid Intense Exercise

When you are bathing or washing your face, you should try to avoid wetting your eyebrows. In addition to avoiding showers, you should not perform activities, such as attending an exercise class or taking a hot bath, that will cause you to sweat profusely.

When Will I See the Final Improvements in My Eyebrows?

If your eyebrows look very dark and dramatic after you receive your microblading session, don’t worry. It’s normal for your eyebrows to look very dark after we deposit the pigmentation into your skin. Your skin may also develop small scabs during the next couple of days. To help your skin heal, you should not pick or rub at these scabs. Over the next two weeks, your skin will heal and your scabs will fall off.

As you skin heals, your pigmentation will lighten and you will be able to see the ultimate effect of your treatment. If you would like to alter your look, we will make adjustments to your tattoo during your touch-up appointment. For example, if you would like your new eyebrows to look more dramatic, we can add shading and brushstrokes that will make your brows look more noticeable.

How Much Does Microblading Cost?

If you’re tired of spending your money on expensive eyebrow pencils and other cosmetic products that don’t provide lasting results, you’re in luck. Microblading costs are very low, and this technique is a great way to improve your eyebrows in an inexpensive, efficient manner.

Your Initial Treatment

Your initial microblading treatment will cost $650. This is a comprehensive treatment that will include an initial consultation at our office, as well as your first microblading session. This fee will also cover the touch-up session that you’ll receive about four to six weeks after your initial treatment.

Maintenance Treatments

After about six months, it’s common to extend the benefits of your initial session by receiving a microblading maintenance treatment. This session will cost $250.

How Can I Extend the Benefits of My Microblading Sessions?

To decrease your microblading costs, you should adopt a skincare routine and lifestyle that will preserve the longevity of your new tattoo.

Adjust Your Skincare Routine

Using certain skincare products will damage the ink in your semi-permanent tattoo. Products that contain tretinoin can cause your new look to fade more quickly. If you would like to use creams that contain tretinoin after your skin has recovered from your initial treatment, you should try not to apply these creams onto the skin around your brows.

Avoid the Sun

Exposing your skin to the sun will cause the ink in your eyebrows to fade more quickly. To preserve your ink, you should wear hats when you go outside and use strong sunscreen.

Will the Improvements in My Eyebrows Look Artificial?

When you were researching microblading options, you might have seen photographs of people whose brows look overly dramatic and artificial. Fortunately, our artistic microblading techniques will give you a subtle, sophisticated look.

During your microblading sessions, we will carefully place small amounts of pigmentation into your skin. We will match this pigmentation to the colors in your eyebrows. Further, we will use hair-like strokes to mimic the appearance of your natural eyebrow hairs. These techniques will enable your new brows to look very natural and realistic. Your friends, co-workers, and other acquaintances will not realize that you have gotten a semi-permanent tattoo.

Can I Use Other Techniques to Improve My Eyebrows?

In addition to using microblading, we can change the shape of your eyebrows with waxing treatments. During a waxing treatment, we will use specialized techniques to remove unwanted eyebrow hairs. Waxing is a great way to make uneven brows look more symmetrical. In addition, this treatment can be used to give your brows a clean, aesthetically-pleasing shape.

What Characteristics Make Someone a Good Candidate for Microblading?

To receive a microblading treatment, you should be an adult in good health who is not pregnant or breastfeeding. In addition, you cannot receive a microblading treatment while you have an infection that affects the skin in and around your eyebrows. If you develop a rash, infection, or another issue that affects the skin in this area of your body, you’ll need to call us to reschedule your appointment.

Enhance Your Eyebrows

You don’t have to spend the rest of your life feeling unhappy about your thin, uneven, or patchy eyebrows. Microblading is a minimally invasive technique that will give you full, attractive brows. Microblading costs are affordable, and your full brows are likely to last for many months.
