Why we love The Perfect Derma Peel™

At Columbus Facial Plastics we love treatments that are safe, effective and consistent. We have used many types of peels over the years, and The Perfect Derma Peel™ is one of our favorites. This is a medium-depth, medical grade chemical peel that combines several ingredients to provide a controlled and predictable reaction of the skin for all skin types and ethnicities. This means we can feel confident in knowing how your skin will react, when you will most likely peel, and what results we can expect.  We typically advise doing this type of peel in a series initially, every 3-4 weeks, to improve skin health, texture, and turgor. This peel produces mild peeling with just a couple of days of downtime making this a good option to use 2-3 weeks prior to big events and 2-4 times per year as a part of your ongoing skin health plan.  The protocol may vary slightly depending on your individual needs, skin type and concerns.

A chemical peel helps remove dead cells from the outer layer of skin and causes a minor injury to the deeper skin cells which encourages cell turnover and renewal, and stimulates collagen and elastin production to repair the skin. This process leads to healthier appearing, smoother, and brighter skin. This peel in particular also contains multiple antioxidants which help to combat DNA damage from the environment, slowing the aging process and preventing wrinkles.

In addition to improving the complexion and texture of the skin, The Perfect Derma Peel™ is helpful in treating multiple common skin complaints including:

  • Sun damage and hyperpigmentation
  • Aging skin and wrinkles
  • Mild acne and the reduction of acne scarring
  • The appearance of large pores
  • The appearance of rosacea

The Perfect Derma Peel is safe and does not require any special skin prep prior to application. Your provider will discuss stopping any retinoid products for at least 3 days prior to your peel and you should not have any other skin or waxing treatments for several days before your scheduled appointment. Your medical history will be reviewed to make sure you don’t have any other conditions that might affect your immune response to the peel. We will provide a specific post-peel skin protocol which will improve the effectiveness of the treatment and protect the skin during the peeling process. SPF is a must always- but especially after a peel!
