Professional Background & Expertise
Back in 2019, Deejay Hines started her medical career in emergency medicine—right as COVID hit. Those intense ER shifts taught her to think quickly and work both independently and with physicians. Though she loved the fast pace, aesthetic medicine was always her long-term goal. Her first job at a plastic surgery front desk showed her what was possible when she watched a nurse practitioner balance surgical work with aesthetic treatments.
After gaining experience at a medical spa focusing on injectables, Deejay found her way to Columbus Facial Plastics. Here, she helps Dr. Nogan during surgeries and managing patient care throughout their surgical journey while also performing her own aesthetic treatments. From Botox and fillers to microneedling sessions, she’s built expertise across multiple treatment types.
Philosophy of Care & Treatment Approach
“I really listen,” Deejay says about her patient consultations. She believes you can’t properly treat someone unless you understand exactly what they’re hoping to achieve. Some patients come in with specific concerns about a single wrinkle or feature, while others notice an overall tired appearance. Deejay takes time to understand not just aesthetic goals but also practical considerations like budget constraints and how much downtime someone can manage.
She’s not one for overpromising. In fact, she’d rather set realistic expectations and work hard to exceed them. For first-timers especially, Deejay recommends a gradual approach—starting conservatively and building up treatments over time. This measured strategy helps patients feel comfortable while avoiding that obvious “just had work done” look.
Favorite Procedures & Patient Success
When asked what she loves most about her job, Deejay struggles to choose between her surgical and aesthetic roles. Both bring different satisfactions. She particularly enjoys comprehensive facial assessments that look beyond the obvious concern. A patient might come in wanting lip filler, but Deejay’s trained eye might notice that addressing mid-face volume would create better overall harmony.
Microneedling holds a special place for Deejay. She finds it incredibly versatile—helping younger patients with acne scars, refreshing tired skin in middle-aged patients, and improving texture for older clients. The minimal downtime and impressive results make it her go-to recommendation.
Joining Columbus Facial Plastics
“This is honestly my dream job,” Deejay says about her position at Columbus Facial Plastics. While many practitioners must choose between surgical or non-surgical paths, she gets to do both. The dual aspect brings different challenges each day and keeps her professionally fulfilled.
What touches her most is seeing the transformation in patients’ confidence. Whether it’s helping someone recover after Mohs surgery or addressing a feature that’s bothered them their whole life, the impact extends far beyond appearance.
Outside the office, Deejay juggles life with her husband, baby girl, and two “massive but lovable” Bernadoodles that keep her home life just as dynamic as her workday.
