Aging just got real. My 7 year old goddaughter was outside playing with a new marionette puppet, “Sassy” that one of her Grandparents brought her back from a recent trip to Mexico. She was making the puppet dance and talk and everyone was having a good time until she popped into my lap and said I kind of looked like her beloved new puppet. My hair is not purple and I don’t own a red velvet dress although I do have a very vibrant personality.
That night as I was doing my night time routine of ZO SkinHealth products I stared at myself in the mirror. I noticed small grooves…little tiny ditches… running from the corners of my mouth down my chin. When did this happen? I did resemble Sassy with the dreaded marionette lines. As I was looking at myself I also saw a younger version of my great Aunt Elsie. She lived to be 101 years old and each year those marionette lines got deeper and deeper. My siblings and I used to joke that she looked like “Lady Elaine” from Mister Rogers. I realized then and there that this “lady Elaine” look started with these tiny ditches.
Luckily, I work for the best facial plastic surgeon’s in the world, Dr. Michael Sullivan. I am familiar with Juvederm and have used it in my nasolabial folds in the past. I was thrilled with the natural look and I knew that Juvederm could help me soften those marionette lines and keep aging at bay for yet another day.
The next day I discussed my concerns with Dr. Mike and we talked about the various wrinkle filler options and decided Juvederm would be my best option. One of my favorite things about fillers is the instant gratification they provide.
I went from having marionette lines to seeing a remarkable improvement in a matter of minutes. The score? Juvederm 1 – Marionette lines 0.
