Hello. I’m Dr. Michael Sullivan, facial plastic surgeon at Sullivan Centre in Columbus, Ohio. I specialize in facial plastic surgery and I do a lot of non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as Botox and fillers.
My office staff is often asked why we do Botox by area as opposed to number of units and the reason I do that is because for 99 percent of individuals, what it takes to get the best, longest-lasting improvement between the eyebrows or for the forehead or around the crow’s feet area, it takes about 25 units.
So to resolve those 11 lines between the eyebrows, usually 25 units will do that. For the horizontal lines on the forehead, about 25 units and then for crow’s feet about 12.5 on either side. However, doing Botox as a provider, it’s a matter of following trends, to see what effect each individual patient gets so that we can customize the treatment plan to that individual. Ultimately when we set on that plan, we’re going to get the best results that are going to last for the longest period of time.
